2017 NCMLE 42nd Annual Conference: Engage, Ignite, and Empower…Pass it On!!
As the NCMLE Conference Director, it is my true honor and privilege to welcome you to what will be one of the best conferences ever. Our team has worked diligently to have sessions for everyone, from Math and Science to English and Social Studies, to best practices and administrative leadership. No one will walk away from this year’s conference without fresh ideas, innovative strategies, and a sense of rejuvenation!
The conference committee has worked hard to plan a conference that is filled with enlightening discussions, presentations that will cover an array of topics which benefit middle school students and educators, and also provide interactive opportunities for all of our conference participants. This is the year to be at the NCMLE conference!
We are very proud to present Jack Berkemeyer as a returning speaker and for the first time with NCMLE Principal Kafele. I am grateful that you are making plans to attend this year's conference and I'm excited about the information that will be shared and the experiences planned for everyone.
A nationally-recognized presenter, author, and humorist, Jack Berckemeyer, began his career as a middle school teacher in Denver, Colorado. After two years of teaching, he was named as an outstanding educator at his school, and shortly thereafter he was identified as one of the outstanding educators in the district. In 2003, he received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Falcon School District. Jack brings his energy, humor, and expertise of the middle level adolescent to all staff development as he helps teachers and administrators remember why this job makes a difference. Read more...
A highly regarded urban public school educator in New Jersey for nearly 30 years, Baruti K. Kafele has distinguished himself both as a classroom teacher and as a school principal. As an elementary school teacher in East Orange, N.J., Principal Kafele was selected as the East Orange School District and Essex County Public Schools Teacher of the Year. As a middle and high school principal in East Orange, Plainfield, and Newark, N.J., he led the transformation of four different schools, including Newark Tech High School, which went from a low-performing school in need of improvement to recognition by U.S.News and World Report as one of America's best high schools. He works with hundreds of schools and districts to assist them with closing what he coined, the "attitude gap" - the gap between those students who have the will to strive for academic excellence and those who do not. As a conference committee, we value the diversity that can be found in all middle schools, the level of commitment that we witness on the part of educators daily, and we want to ensure you that you will benefit from attending the 2017 NCMLE conference.
See you soon!

Can I update my registration information?
Yes. Schools often need to change who they are sending. Click here for more information. (Only applies to individual school purchases.)
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Printed tickets are not required, but they may speed up the check-in process. Also have a school or university ID with you when possible.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Your ticket is only transferable within your institution.
What is the refund policy?
We do not issue refunds after the first Friday in January (1/6/17), and a charge of $35 may be required for each refund to cover expenses of the organization related to your purchase. All refund requests after the first Friday of January will be considered for credit/transfer to next years conference. No refunds/credits/transfers will be considered after the Friday immediately before conference (3/3/17).
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
Not a problem! We can fix it at the registration table.
Is WIFI provided at the conference?
WIFI is included as a part of your stay at the Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons. However, WIFI is not provided by the conference for two very simple reasons: Most people have smart phones and data plans, and we would have to raise costs for everyone to cover the cost of WIFI. WIFI can be purchased for about $10 a day from the front desk at the hotel.
Why do you encourage people to stay at the Sheraton when I can stay across the street for "less"?
We encourage people to stay at the Sheraton for the ease of access, less driving and traffic, spliting the cost of the room is below the state rate, you have WIFI included in your stay, and it allows for more networking with colleagues across the state. So when you look at all you gain in a Sheraton stay, we believe a stay across the street is less and not worth it!!!
Still have a question we have not answered here? Think we need to add to the list of FAQ's?
Not a problem! Email our Conference Director and Assistant Director at email@example.com and we will get an answer to you as soon as possible.
