EXPERT KEYNOTE FOR NLC - HAL GREGERSEN

Wednesday, Nov. 8, 7:45 - 8:15 p.m

Hal Gregersen is Executive Director of the MIT Leadership Center and Senior Lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He challenges organizations and individuals to question the way we think and act to build a better, more creative world.

Under the premise that the right questions disrupt the world, Hal has studied the top leaders to see how they find and ask these kinds of questions. Hal’s most recent book, The Innovator’s DNA: Mastering the Five Skills of Disruptive Innovators, interviewed founder entrepreneurs and CEOs at 100+ of the most innovative companies globally. He also explored how 15,000+ leaders leverage five key innovation skills to create invaluable new businesses, products, services, and processes.

Besides teaching others the power of asking questions to lead and innovate, Hal Gregersen is also now studying 200+ renowned business and government leaders: “This question-centric project is surfacing insights into how leaders build better questions to unlock game-changing solutions." The first article from the project“Bursting the CEO Bubble” (March/April 2017 Harvard Business Review) – explores how senior leaders can ask better questions to unlock what they don’t know they don’t know – before it’s too late. Hal is also founder of The 4-24 Project, an initiative dedicated to rekindling the provocative power of asking the right questions in adults so they can pass this crucial creativity skill on to the next generation.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE (YLE)

Camp Fire youth participants from around the country will come to the Kansas City area during NLC for a powerful leadership experience. This will include our Youth Advisory Cabinet (YAC) made up of 10 high-performing high school and college-aged youth who provide voice and direction to the overall Camp Fire movement.

This year’s YLE will give around 30 youth, aged 15-18, a focused opportunity to have a voice in strategic planning of a national youth service organization. The breakout sessions are intentionally designed to provide skill building through future visioning, which drives youth success. The skills and knowledge the youth will acquire become the platform for achieving their full potential.
