The World Health Organisation (WHO) stated that Patients Safety is a fundamental principle of healthcare. Every point in the process of care giving contains certain degree of inherent lack of safety. Patient Safety improvements demand a complex system-wide effort involving a wide range of actions in leadership and management, environmental safety and risk management.
To this end, ROVA College of Healthcare Executives in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, its agencies and development partners are organising the 2017 National Healthcare Management Conference; theme - 'Patient Safety- Improving Patients Safety through Leadership and Management Development'.The conference is designed to convene key stakeholders who have the core mandate to ensure patient safety and those strategic to the expansion of patient safety programs as well as Universal Health Coverage.
The main objective is to align with the WHO recent submission and communiqué that quality and patient safety play key roles in global health and is of immense contribution to Universal Health Coverage in any Nation. It will serve as a platform for high level advocacy which will generate new ideas and opportunities to integrate patient safety within each level of healthcare systems, each setting of care and across each juncture of patient partway. It will also highlight the important role of leadership and management in the quest to minimise avoidable medical errors in Africa and Nigeria in particular.
