Description

The Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue Unit (IMSARU) is proud to host the 2017 Mountain Rescue Association (MRA) Spring conference. While the conference is primarily an MRA event, we invite members of NASAR, first responders, neighboring SAR teams, and the broader SAR community to join us.

A tentative schedule is listed below. A detailed schedule will be made available here when finalized. (see full details at http://www.imsaru.org/sarcon).

  • Tuesday-Thursday, May 30-June 1: Pre-conference events
  • Friday, June 2: Day 1 of conference technical program tracks (field and class).
  • Saturday, June 3: Day 2 of conference technical program tracks (field and class).
  • Sunday, June 4: National SAR Memorial Service & Honor Guard Dedication Ceremony followed by MRA Business Meeting.


REGISTRATION FEES AND DETAILS:

FULL REGISTRATION ($200 early/$225 regular) Early registration ends April 15.

  • MRA Members ($175 Early Bird/$200 Regular)
  • Non-MRA Members ($200 Early Bird/$225 Regular)

All full registration tickets includes the following:

  • Access to the full technical program on Friday and Saturday, including some special events Thursday.
  • Transportation to all field events.
  • Lunches provided Friday and Saturday.
  • Saturday evening banquet including keynote speaker and MRA awards ceremony.
  • Access to vendor/exhibit hall.


EXTRAS

  • Individual day passes are available at $105/day each for Friday and Saturday of the conference, entitling the passholder entrance to all technical sessions. Lunch is the only meal included with day passes.

All presenters will receive 50% off their conference registration price. Rebates are not cumulative for multiple presentations given. PRE-CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES

Varying pre-conference events will take place on the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday immediately prior to the conference. Listed below are brief descriptions of currently confirmed activities, but other pre-conference activities are still being organized so check back for other opportunities. SUMMIT MOUNT BORAH ($300)

Summit Idaho's tallest peak, Mount Borah, with the Sawtooth Mountain Guides. At 12,667 feet ASL, the summit of Mt. Borah provides panoramic views of the scenic and wild Idaho backcountry.

PARTNER & SELF-RESCUE CLIMBING SEMINAR ($135)

Practice techniques for self and partner rescue during multi-pitch and single-pitch climbs while exploring the famous City of Rocks National Reserve, Idaho's beautiful premier climbing destination.

LIGHTWEIGHT TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT & RESCUE TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP ($375)

Enact faster, lighter, and more efficient technical rope rescue techniques using the concepts and equipment discussed by professional climber, instructor, and engineer, Richard Delaney.

K9 LAND AND WATER HUMAN REMAINS DETECTION ($190)

This class is open to intermediate to advanced HRD teams, although dogs may be beginners on water. Attendees should bring their K9. If you want to observe this class without bringing a K9, observer tickets are available for $75.

K9 ADVANCED WATER HUMAN REMAINS DETECTION ($120)

K9 SCENARIOS & SKILL STATION (Free)

This workshop is free with conference registration and is open to all search dog teams in all disciplines and all skill levels, prospective handlers, and flankers. Scenarios and Skills Stations is an opportunity to practice realistic and practical skills that will benefit all search dogs and handlers. Stations will include disaster agility, K9 first aid, hazard awareness, gridding, K9 motivation, and a watercraft station.

INTRODUCTION TO PROFESSIONAL TRACKING AND THE BASICS OF EVIDENCE SEARCHING ($65)

This training will introduce SAR volunteer responders to the JHPTS tracking training program and professional tracker response to SAR and law enforcement missions. Training will include instruction and integration of tracking responder use of proper principles and techniques of performing an evidence search.

The conference is based at the Riverside Hotel in Boise, ID, and most of the technical sessions, the BBQ and banquet will take place at or within the vicinity of the Riverside Hotel. Accommodations are not included in the registration cost.

TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS TO RIVERSIDE HOTEL FROM BOISE AIRPORT

The Riverside Hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport, by request. Contact the hotel to make arrangements. Alternatively, Boise has an active Uber and Lyft community if you prefer to rideshare.


REFUND POLICY

A 100% refund is available on full registrations, day passes, pre-conference courses and conference extras up until 30 days prior to the pre-conference (April 30, 2017). Within 30 days a 50% refund will be honored. Send all refund requests to sarcon@imsaru.org.
