Event description

Description

Honoring Dr. King's lifelong dedication to service and justice, GO-MAP is partnering with United Way of King County to spruce up space for kids at the Dale Turner Family YMCA.

The Dale Turner Family YMCA Child Development Center provides developmentally appropriate curriculum designed to support the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth of your children. Children at the Y are encouraged to use their creativity, develop new skills, work and play with peers, and experience positive adult role models. We serve children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old and program provides support to low-income families in our community.

Tasks will include: Deep cleaning toys, equipment, and kitchen supplies. Light painting and other support. Minimum age to volunteer if accompanied by an adult is 10.

What to bring: Wear warm and comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting dirty or paint on.

In the spirit of Dr. King: Dr. King believed in a nation of freedom and justice for all, and encouraged all citizens to live up to the purpose and potential of America by applying the principles of nonviolence to make this country a better place to live — creating the Beloved Community. The MLK Day of Service is a way to transform Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s vision of racial and economic justice into community action that helps solve social problems.
