Event Details

The 10th annual Mat-Su Salmon Symposium is a forum to share information on Mat-Su Basin watersheds, salmon, and salmon habitat and to promote an exchange of ideas about salmon science and conservation in the Mat-Su Basin.

This year's featured keynote speaker is Tara Martin.

Dr. Tara Martin is a conservation scientist and pioneer in the translaction of ecological data into conservation managment decisions. Dr. Martin's research is being adopted around the world to help organizations decide what actions to take, when and where to get the best conservation outcomes, while taking into account the many other competing needs of society. With over 100 scientific publications, Tara's work bridges the gap between science and on-the-ground action. Tara will speak about what it takes to avoid irreversible loss of wild salmon populations and draw on her team's current work in the Fraser River Estuary, British Columbia, historically one of the largest salmon bearing rivers in the world.

Presenter abstract submission period closes October 5th. Presenter guidelines can be found HERE. Submission of abstracts does not guarantee a slot in the agenda. Please look for confirmation by October 16th. Presenters should also register as attendees.

A draft agenda coming soon. Online Symposium registration closes October 27th.

To help cover symposium costs, there will be a $25 registration fee per day. This includes lunch, snacks and refreshments. Student registration is free. If you have difficulty with registration expenses, please contact matsusalmon@tnc.org or 907-865-5713 to learn about scholarship opportunities.
