Event description

Description

Join MarineLab's biologist/instructors in a week long exploration of the marine communities in the Upper Keys. Days are spent aboard our boats, snorkeling or diving the seagrasses, mangroves, and coral reefs protected by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Everglades National Park and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. All workshops are content oriented and are designed for the middle and high school science teacher. Recharge your batteries, get excited about using marine science in YOUR curriculum, and get continuing education points at the same time!

Various field research methods and techniques are taught and practiced during the snorkeling field trips. The AP Water Quality Lab and Diversity Indexing Lab, advanced coral reef ecology with Bleachwatch, seagrass ecology with quadrats, mangrove ecology with soil analysis, and the Great Annual Fish Count are all part of this advanced program.

COST: $450. Workshop fees are all-inclusive except for transportation to MarineLab: meals, accommodations, field trips, evening activities, and snorkel gear are all provided.

Enroll by registering and paying a $100 deposit. Balance will be collected upon arrival.
