What: Harrison' High School's 2017 Lady Hoya Summer Basketball Camp

For: Rising 1st thru Rising 9th Grade Girls in the Metro Atlanta Area

When: Monday thru Thursday, June 12th - June 15th

Time: 9 AM to 3:00 PM

Where: Harrison High School, Kennesaw GA

Cost: $225. Price includes lunch every day and a camp t-shirt.

Description of Camp:

One Week Only! Lady Hoya Summer basketball camp is a a great opportunity for girls to learn the fundamentals of basketball and develop game skills. Participants welcome from all schools/regions. No previous basketball knowledge or experience required. Participants will be broken up into smaller groups based upon age and skill level. Limited number of spots available. The clinics are led by Head Coach Steve Lenahan and current high school players.

The players and coaches will take a differentiated approach to working with all of the players. This means that each player will be challenged based on her current abilities. They will be taught the the fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, passing, along with all of the other building blocks of the game.

For thsoe who are more advanced, skills taught will include:

  • Primary and secondary dribbling moves
  • How to move without the ball
  • Setting effective screens on and off the ball
  • How to get your teammates open
  • Playing aggressive one-on-one defense
  • Playing good help defense
  • How to handle the ball under pressure
  • How to finish around the basket
  • How to become more of a scoring threat
  • How to effectively communicate on the court
  • Setting a good training routine and tracking it
  • Mental toughness
  • Fastbreak and transition
  • Sportsmanship
  • Miscellaneous:
  • What your coach is looking for
  • How to work with the referees
  • What to do when you aren't getting enough playing time.

Camp Schedule (Typically):

9:00-9:15 Stretching and Roll Call

9:15-10:30 Skills Stations (See List above for skills being taught. Typically there are 5 stations and players rotate every 15 minutes learning new skills at each station)

10:30-12:00: Morning scrimmages

12:00-1:00 Lunch and Learn (Typically involves a lecture from the high school coach. Will also include film review)

1:00-1:30 One-on-one, free throw, dribbling, and three-point contests

1:30-3:00 Afternoon scrimmages
