2017 Immigrant and Refugee Rights Convening
Sun, May 7, 2017, 9:00 AM – Mon, May 8, 2017, 12:00 PM EDT
PICC is excited to invite you to the 2017 Immigrant and Refugee Rights Convening!
This convening will bring members of immigrant and refugee communities, grassroots organizations, and advocates from across the state together for training, networking and, most importantly, movement building. Together, we will envision ways to build a more unified immigrant rights movement for our state and work together to create a more just and inclusive Pennsylvania.
Topics to be covered include:
• Community-based models of building local organizations
• How municipalities can lead the way in creating a more welcoming state
• Building electoral and political power for immigrant and refugee communities
• How schools can actively support immigrant and refugee communities
The Convening is open to anyone who cares about immigrant and refugee communities in Pennsylvania and wants to join in building a vibrant immigrant rights movement.
Sunday will be primarily workshops and panels on a variety of topics, and Monday will include PICC's annual Advocacy Day, where participants will be able to meet with legislators. Directly after the convening, PICC members will be holding their annual meeting to decide on PICC’s issue priorities for the coming year.
The Convening will be held at the Harrisburg Hilton. The hotel is offering a discounted rate for Convening participants for both Saturday and Sunday nights. The discount will only be availabel for reservations made before April 6, 2017! Please place your reservations online and use the code PICC5.
We will be offering a limited number of scholarships for those with limited financial resources. Please appy today: http://bit.do/PICCscholarship
