2017 Hudson River Symposium:Changing Energy Landscapes in the Hudson Valley
Wed, May 3, 2017, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM EDT
New York’s energy policies targeting the reduction of carbon emissions will have profound effects on how we view energy in the Hudson Valley. The days when steam electric generation dominated both the electrons flowing on the grid and the environmental concerns on the river are becoming a distant past.
New York’s aggressive renewable goals are leading to significant investments in both wind and solar power generation across the state, requiring upgrades to transmission lines and corridors to get the power to the Hudson Valley and New York City. The ever present demand for fossil fuels and changes in federal export policies has led to increased petroleum transport from Albany to downstate refineries and for export to other countries.
This one day symposium will explore the energy policies, demand, and change that is occurring and yet to come for the Hudson River and watershed.
