Guest Lecturer: Barry Ansbacher, managing partner at Ansbacher Law

This free seminar is designed for current and future board members of condominium and homeowner associations, community association managers and community leaders. This course is certified by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations Division of Florida Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes to meet the 2.0 continuing education credit hour requirement community association managers and the requirement for post-election training for newly elected board members. Attendees will learn important topics related to the operation and management of an association, including:

  • Legal requirements associated with board and membership meetings
  • Legal duties of board members
  • Enforcement of covenants
  • Introduction to laws governing condominium and homeowner associations
  • Voting and elections
  • Financial reporting and budget preparation
  • Official records requirements
  • Dispute resolution
  • Understanding the rights and responsibilities of homeowners, board members, and associations.

BARRY B. ANSBACHER is the managing partner of Ansbacher Law. He has nearly 30 years experience in all aspects of Florida community association law, including development of new communities and condominium associations, turnover of control to homeowners, defective construction claims and ongoing operations of condominium and homeowner associations. Barry is one of only two attorneys in the State of Florida who is board certified by The Florida Bar in both Real Estate Law and Construction Law. Barry regularly lectures on association law to fellow lawyers at the Florida Bar Construction Law Institute, to professional community association managers, and to neighborhood leaders. He was the original author of the chapter on subdivisions for The Florida Bar’s book, Florida Real Property Complex Transactions. He is also known for representing community associations in complex construct defect litigation cases against some of America’s largest home builders. Barry is a licensed instructor certified by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
