Event description

Description

The Simmons Foundation conducts info sessions to give prospective grantees an overview of our grant process and our focus area for each quarter. Due to space restrictions, you are welcome to bring a total of two (2) people, staff and/or board. If you would like to apply for a grant during 3rd Quarter (Civic and Community), attendance at this info session is mandatory and open to all prospective grantees.

During this information session, you will learn the nuts and bolts of the grant application process from setting up an account in our electronic application system, to information about the art of a great site visit.

Who Should Attend: No more than two (2) representatives from each nonprofit organization applying to the Foundation. It is advised that organizations send individuals who will be in charge of preparing the proposal and those who can articulate the proposal, and answer questions, during the “fast pitch” round which may include specific program or organizational questions.

After the presentation, you will have the opportunity to participate in a round of Fast Pitches. Be prepared to spend up to three (3) minutes with one of our staff to pitch your proposal. We will ask questions related to your proposal - primarily, how does this fit with our focus during that quarter? While you are encouraged to come prepared to discuss your proposal, you do not need to prepare a formal presentation as this is a conversation.

Each member of our staff will take a different portion of that quarter’s portfolio for the discussion and Kay Davis will assist with questions related to the database and technical assistance. You are strongly encouraged to participate and these conversations will be considered when reviewing your Letter of Inquiry.
