Honoring Lisa & Peter Fishman

Lisa and Peter have called both West Hartford and Farmington home in their 32 years of marriage. They are both children of Holocaust survivors and the proud parents of Garrett and Ari Fishman. Lisa and Peter have been invaluable in offering hours of their time and passion in the creation, growth and nonprofit independence of Voices of Hope, which has the mission to foster a culture of courage and social action against hate, bigotry, intolerance and indifference. The Fishmans are devoted to make certain the legacy of survivors is used to connect the past with the present and create positive change for future generations.


Keynote Speaker

Deborah Dwork, Ph.D.

Join Voices of Hope and keynote speaker Deborah Dwork, Ph.D., Rose Professor of Holocaust History and Founding Director of the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Clark University, who will share with us her thoughts on the following subject matter: For You, Too, Were Strangers in a Strange Land: Refugees Then and Now.

Prof. Dwork is counted as a leading authority on university education in this field, as well as in her area of scholarship: Holocaust history. Professor Dwork’s books include her now classic Children With A Star, translated into many languages and Auschwitz, co-authored with Robert Jan van Pelt. The BBC and PBS produced the Horizon/Nova television documentary "Blueprints of Genocide" (BBC) / "Nazi Designers of Death" (PBS) based upon Auschwitz. The book received the National Jewish Book Award and the Spiro Kostof Award.the subject of a BBC and PBS documentary.
