Event Details

Dinner in White on the Columbia River is a very special gathering of people for a unique experience to enjoy good food, great music, and the company of other wonderful people.  For a second year, the event will be a fundraiser to help build a bigger, better library in Washougal that can meet the needs of a rapidly growing community.

Dinner in White on the Columbia River is fashioned after the Diner in Blanc event which was started in Paris over 27 years ago by Francois Pasquier who invited a few of his friends to a picnic at the Bois de Boulogne Park.  All of the attendees agreed to dress in white so they could find each other in the park.

We are pleased to invite you to participate in our local version of this beautiful and fun event and enjoy a wonderful evening with friends, eating, drinking and dancing at Marina Park at the Port of Camas-Washougal.  The park provides a spectacular view of Mount Hood, a scenic backdrop of the Columbia River, and a breath-taking sunset.

A Guide to Dinner in White on the Columbia

What to Wear?

Everyone must wear white. Get fancy, sassy and crazy; this is your moment to shine. White hats, white wigs, white jeans with white tee-shirts - it’s all good as long as it is white. Accessories and shoes need not be white, as long as the overall effect of your outfit is white!  There are prizes given to the Best Dressed Woman, Man and Couple. Check out our Facebook page for some ideas.

Tables and Chairs

We will provide tables & chairs.   Guests will provide their own table decor including white table cloths and napkins.  The tables are 8' long x 30" and meant to seat 8 guests -Please only decorate the part of the table where you and your guest are sitting.

So that large parties can buy their tickets separately but ensure they sit together, seating is first come first served. If you have a large party make sure to arrive as close to the event opening at 4pm as possible so that you will all be able to sit together. Each 8’ x 30” table is designed to seat a maximum of 8 guests. If you have a smaller party expect to share your space and bring enough table décor to cover just enough space for your party.  Want a reserved table? Choose the group ticket option, the cost is $300 for a table for 8.

The Table

Once set, each table at the event is an elegant, beautiful place for you and your party to dine in style! Get creative as you wish - we would love to see real silverware, candelabras, candlesticks, vases of flowers and whatever else expresses your vision. This is your elegant dinner party for your group within this grand event – have fun! You will bring silverware, plates, serving ware, glasses, and whatever other table accessories you wish. There is "ambient" lighting at the venue, but you will be responsible for lighting your own tables as you like - there is no electricity at the site so you will need to bring candles or battery operated lights/candles. Looking for inspiration?  Check out our pinterest page here. Don't forget your white napkin for the waving of the white napkin which signals the start of the dinner.

The Dinner

This event is meant to inspire the master chefs inside us all! Feel free to bring hors d’oeurves, an entrée, and a special dessert for your elegant dinner party picnic.  To help complete your designer dinner, we will have Cocktails, Wine including Bubbles, and Craft Beer available for purchase.  Want to attend Dinner in White on the Columbia and not bring your picnic?  Good news we have the Deluxe ticket option which provides you with a catered meal provided by Say Ciao.  Click on here to view menu.  To complete your meal  wine, cocktails and craft beer will be available to purchase.
