Event Details

Come take a walking tour of beautiful and historic Constitution Island with the Constitution Island Association!  Learn about the Island's Revolutionary War history and the life of the Warner Family on the Island.  You can view Anna Warner's historic garden, visit the historic Revolutionary War Redoubts and learn more about the Island's history from our experienced Tour Guides.  Wear comfortable shoes - there are some hills and rougher terrain on the hike!

Travel to the island is by boat from the United States Military Academy at West Point's South Dock.  Our Tour Guides will meet our guests at South Dock and join them to depart on the boat which leaves for the Island at 9:30.  The boat will pick up guests to return to West Point at 11:30.  Free parking at West Point's South Dock parking lot.  Please bring Photo ID (Driver's License or Passport) and allow time for the West Point entry checkpoint.

*Please note that the Warner House is closed and will not be part of the tour.  We are hopeful that funds will be secured this year, to allow for the restoration project to get underway this year.

Constitution Island Association

The Constitution Island Association is a Non-Profit Organization that was founded in 1916 to preserve and protect the history and traditions of the unique American site known as 'Constitution Island.'

In 1908 Anna Warner and Mrs. Russell Sage gave Constitution Island to the United States government to be "an addition to the Military Reservation of West Point and to be for the use of the United States Military Academy".  The Island is most famous for the Great Chain that was placed across the Hudson during the Revolutionary War and the Warner family who lived on the Island during the 19th century.  The Warner House and ruins of the Revolutionary War fortifications are the primary points of interest.  The Island’s 280 acres are covered with hiking trails that are enjoyed by the Island’s visitors.

The Constitution Island Association provides educational, and recreational experiences for our local community and visitors by commemorating and helping to preserve the Hudson Valley's historic, artistic and literary traditions.
