Celebration & Award Presentation 6:30-8:30PM

Join us to celebrate and support the people and projects that make Rhode Island a vital place to live and work. The Celebration will feature an open wine and beer bar provided by Campus Fine Wines, hors d'oeuvres, a silent featuring unique humanities experiences, and the award presentation. Four distinguished awards will be presented to honorees who each demonstrate Proximity – how tthe humanities bring us together through stories that make connections not widen divisions, conversations that bring people and communities coler, and affirm our shared civic values:

Lifetime Achievement in the Humanities Award
Judge Judith C. Savage, former RI Superior Court Judge and Distinguished Jurist in Residence at Roger Williams University School of Law

Tom Roberts Prize for Creative Achievement in the Humanities
Len Cabral, International Storyteller

Innovation in the Humanities Award
Little Compton Historical Society's "If Jane Should Want to Be Sold" exhibition & programs

Public Humanities Scholar Award
Valerie Tutson, Founding Member and Executive Director of Rhode Island Black Storytellers

Parking Information: For those who are driving to the event, you are welcome to drop off passengers at the Providence Public Library entrance at 225 Washington Street. There is a special $5 rate around the block at 365 Parking, 55 Broadway Street behind the Library. Look for the "RICH Event Parking" signs and be sure to mention to the attendants that you're with the Humanities Council event.

Proceeds benefit public history, cultural heritage, civic education, and community engagement by and for all Rhode Islanders. All ticket purchases in excess of $50 per ticket are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
