The Alachua County Education Compact is hosting the third annual Career Discoveries Day.
Career Discoveries Day is a 3-hour workshop, designed to expose middle/high school students and their parents to emerging career opportunities in the Greater Gainesville region. Career Discoveries Day, planned for Saturday, November 4, features Santa Fe College students and local business professionals in the following industry sectors: Education, Health Sciences, Construction and Technical, Business, Information Technology Education, Digital Media and Graphic Design Technology, the Institute of Public Safety, and Emerging Technologies. Each industry sector has a speaker who presents emerging career opportunities in his/her industry to entice students to attend his/her breakout session. Each breakout session then features a panel of peer business owners Santa Fe College students and professionals who discuss career pathways for each targeted industries (identified above), share their stories of success and answer questions from the audience.
The Alachua County Education Compact hosted the Career Discoveries Day the last two years, where more than 300 students interacted with more than 50 business professionals and local exhibitors.
