Frequently Asked Questions about Camp Collide

Pick up and drop off time AND LOCATION: Sept. 8th at 6 pm (Main Building, 4600 Brookfield Corporate Drive, Chantilly, VA 20151) and Sept. 10th at 4 pm (Main Building, 4600 Brookfield Corporate Drive, Chantilly, VA 20151). We will be attending Night of Worship as a group on Friday evening after check-in and then we'll head to West Virginia.

Where is the camp held? Camp Sandy Cove, High View, WV (about 2 hours away) and we'll be traveling by charter bus.

What are the sleeping arrangements? Students will sleep in cabins with their respective adult leaders who will lead their small groups throughout the year (ex. 7th grade small group leaders stay in the 7th grade cabins).

How many adults will attend? We like to have as many adults attending as possible. Last year we had 18 adults attending, everyone who comes, always stays throughout the weekend, everyone arrives together, and everyone leaves together (that includes adults and students). The ratio comes out to 1 adult leader for every 7-10 students (the number of students attending each year varies so the number of students is usually between 7-10).

Discipleship is important to Grace Covenant Church so our adult leaders not only chaperone, but come to build relationships with the students, minister to them, pray with them, love them the way Christ would, and help them have fun at camp. There will be a lot of fun outdoor activities!

Who are the adults attending? The adults attending are part of the Oneighty Adult Leader team. These individuals play a huge role in our ministry as they help facilitate our services on Sundays and Wednesdays, lead our small groups and invest in our students. Every individual on leadership team has been through background check and an interview process with the pastor and youth administrator.

With camp being so big, I'm worried my student will end up walking around by themselves, I don't want them to get lost. Neither do we. That's why one of our camp rules, that we go over in the Opening Ceremony the first night, is no one is allowed to walk around by themselves.

Food arrangements? Students get breakfast, lunch and dinner at camp.Unfortunately, we do not receive a menu from the Camp Director but we can assure you the students will be fed. If your student has severe food allergies, please notify us at oneighty@gracecov.org and we will communicate your student's needs to the Camp Director accordingly.

How can I reach my child during the weekend? If your student has a cell phone you may reach them by phone. We encourage them to not use it during the day because we want students to engage with their peers and adult leaders, and take advantage of the fun activities and listen to the messages and participate in the breakout sessions we'll be offering, but you may call them if you wish to speak with them.

Should they pack snacks? If students wish to bring snacks they can. There will be a camp store that will sell snacks, $5 would be enough for them if they'd like to buy snacks for the ride home.

Do you have packing recommendations? Yes we having a recommended packing list and it is available on The Oneighty Parent Group on The City. Also, when registering online through Eventbrite, the packing list appears on the completion page of registration. We recommend bringing plastic bags to put the wet/dirty clothes in at the end of the day as those clothes may still be wet for the road trip home.

Is there anything else I need to do once my student has been registered?  Yes, make sure that you have completed the Parental Consent Form. We must have a completed consent form for every student who is attending.
