Event description

Description

The 12th annual California Bioresources Alliance Symposium, Building California's Sustainable Bioresource Economy will start with a case study: "Permitting a New Organics Facility". A new facility is proposed which includes a 500 ton/day compost operation (including 25% food waste), a 200 ton/day chip and grind operation, and a 100 ton/day dairy manure digester. The proponent of the facility will walk through the planning and permitting process, meeting with representatives from the local and state entities and others to go through each’s requirements and concerns. An open discussion will follow, including a comparison of requirements in the Central Valley vs Southern California.

Other sessions featured in the symposium include “Short Lived Climate Change Pollutants”, “Healthy Soils”, “Synergy of Society, Environment, and Agriculture”, “Bioproducts Portfolio – Building Bioresources Markets”, and “Organics Infrastructure Development in California”.

Our target audience includes local regulators and planners, industry representatives, researchers, and legislators involved in the management of manures, foodwaste, biosolids, greenwaste, agricultural wastes, and woody wastes in California. The symposium is organized by US EPA, NRCS, CARB, CDFA, SWRCB, Association of Compost Produces, California Association of Sanitation Agencies, Cal State Fresno, and UC Davis.
