2017 BREP/NIST Analytical Sciences Training Program
Mon, Jun 12, 2017, 9:00 AM – Tue, Jun 13, 2017, 5:00 PM EDT
The BREP/NIST Analytical Sciences training program will provide students with the foundational theory and hands-on sample preparation/analysis experience required for ultra-performance-liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry-based characterization of recombinant proteins. State-of-the art instrumentation will be utilized throughout the training to identify microheterogeneity typical of a monoclonal antibody therapeutic. The NISTmAb IgG1k Reference Material will be used as the test analyte, providing real-world experience with a relevant biopharmaceutical model. The training program will conclude with tours and demonstrations of additional cutting edge research facilities for higher-order structure analysis, providing a holistic view of the biopharmaceutical characterization workflow. Faculty at UMD, NIST, and the UMD School of Pharmacy will collaborate on these lectures to provide a well-rounded analytical training and experience package.
