Event description

Description

This year’s lecture features New Jersey Senator Joseph F. Vitale (D) who serves as Chair for the Senate’s committee on Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens, as well as the Vice-Chair for the Labor committee. Senator Vitale’s presentation will illuminate health care policy issues at the federal and state levels of government.

Blanche Grosswald was an assistant professor at the School of Social Work at Rutgers University from 2001-2003. Previously, she had worked as a social worker in the Golden Gate Regional Center, San Francisco, California. She was a graduate of UC Berkeley, where her dissertation examined the impact of shift work on family relationships. The main focus of her research involved work and family, women, social justice and human rights. Her research interests overlapped several fields including social welfare, sociology, public health, law, labor, and health policy. She was beloved by her husband, friends, family, students and colleagues at Rutgers for her courage, support for the rights of the downtrodden, and successful careers as a librarian, computer programmer and social worker, despite a lifetime struggle with depression.
