STATEMENT OF NEED:

This course is designed to address recent innovations in metabolic surgery, advanced revisional surgery, MBSAQIP data reporting, measures to increase adherence to post surgical protocols. Learners will discuss aspects of their most challenging cases with faculty who are experts in their field.


TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is designed to meet the continuing education needs of bariatric surgeons, general surgery residents, physician extenders and integrated health professionals.


LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Review techniques for revision of gastric bypass, sleeve and banding procedures
  • Classify interventions resulting in enhanced recovery for bariatric surgery patients
  • Identify opportunities for utilization of the MBSAQIP SAR to enhance quality initiatives
  • Illustrate techniques for improving nutritional deficiencies and post-operative diet adherence
  • Discuss the role of the pre-surgical psychological evaluation
  • Summarize key components for running successful support groups
  • Identify the relationship between the gut microbiome and the effect of probiotics
