BAD Building Summit

Hosted by the Northern WV Brownfields Assistance Center, WV Community Development Hub,
Abandoned Properties Coalition, & WV Housing Development Fund.

 

At the BAD Buildings Summit, learn how to rehabilitate Brownfields, Abandoned, and Dilapidated (BAD) Buildings in your community by networking with other leaders across the state dealing with the same challenges. Participants will see presentations by resource providers, practitioners, and technical experts on topics including demolition, codes & ordinances, funding, resources, engaging stakeholders, and sustainable reuse options for vacant properties.

Northern WV Brownfields Assistance Center

The Northern WV Brownfields Assistance Center is one of two Brownfield Assistance Centers created in 2005 by the West Virginia Legislature to empower communities to plan and implement brownfields redevelopment projects.  The Center promotes economic development and environmental and public health protection through innovative redevelopment of brownfield sites.  The Centers also promotes and coordinates the development of brownfield property by providing training and technical assistance, facilitating site preparation efforts, engaging community involvement, as well has by helping communities with grant writing and leveraging project funding.  

The Northern WV Brownfields Assistance Center is housed in the West Virginia Water Research Institute (WV WRI) at the National Research Center for Coal & Energy (NRCCE) at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.  The NBAC serves the northern 33 counties with collaborations also extending statewide.
