Description

2017 Art Works for Virginia Conference

“A New Virginia Renaissance - How Creativity Will Define Our Commonwealth”

The conference will focus on the themes of creative place making through land use and urban design projects; opportunities for arts and cultural instruction through education reforms including the Every Student Succeeds Act; workforce policies that use the arts to encourage more critical and original thinking for 21st century industries; and analytical tools to help arts organizations measure their success and extend their social and economic influence on their communities and beyond

Virginia has all the necessary elements in place for another Renaissance: technology is transforming the way we communicate; we are socially and economically diverse; we are attracting original thinkers with our service industries and our focus on educational reforms; we recognize that cultural literacy is essential for a vibrant 21st century economy.

The Virginia Commission for the Arts is pleased to announce the 2017 Art Works for Virginia conference in Richmond. The keynote speaker is Jamie Bennett, director of ArtPlace America.
