400 "Boys of Promise"

60 Former College and NFL Players

1 Incredible, Transformational Event

Will You Join Us?

2017 marks the 12th Anniversary of the Angel Tree Football Clinic and the second year of partnership with the NFL Alumni-Northern California!! The newly minted Angel Tree/NFL Alumni Youth of America Football Clinic brings together 7-14 year old “Boys of Promise” who have a number of extreme risk factors present in their lives, with high character, high quality former College and NFL players for a day of football skills development, mentoring, teamwork, positive male role-modelling, leadership development and just plain amazing fun. The 2017 Clinic will have over 400 boys participating from around the Bay Area proper and as faraway as Fresno, Salinas, Stockton and Sacramento. The Angel Tree/NFL Alumni NorCal Football Clinic will once again be held at the Red Morton Community Park Complex, adjacent to the NFL Alumni-Northern California Headquarters, 1311 Madison Ave., Redwood City, CA. The venue has afforded us access to additional athletic fields for 2017, enabling us to increase our participation to 400 boys, making for the largerst Event yet!

Do you have a background as a former College or Professional Football Player or Coach? ....WE NEED YOU! To make the day complete, we need a minimum of 60 former College and NFL players to serve as Volunteer Coaches for this event. We are also excited to invite all members of the NFL Alumni-Northern California Chapter to join us for this amazing day which is the signature event for NFL Alumni Youth of America Week!

What does it take to be a Volunteer Coach? Can you give a kid an encouraging word? Can you slap him a "High Five" when he makes the catch or pat him on the back and tell him "Great Try You'll Get it Next Time" when he doesn't. Then you've got the most important role of the Volunteer Coach down pat!

The next part; remember those position drills that our coaches back in College or the NFL use to make us do over and over again? "Getting back to the basics" they called it! Hand-offs, pitch and catch, lineman shuffle drills, tipped pass drills, fumble drills, stances, get-off drills, yep you remember! For us they were drudgery, but they helped us to sharpen the fundamental skills that we needed in order to shine on Saturdays or Sundays!

For these boys, doing those same drills led by "Legends of the Game", like you, are fun, fun, fun unbounded! Throw in some verbal encouragement, a fist bump or two and a little bit of levity and you have a recipe for a happy, encouraged and inspired kid. Many of our boys come from environments where encouragement, up-lift and hope are in short supply; their spirits can be very low and their self-esteem even lower. But on Angel Tree Football Clinic Day, it is their day and as our clinic theme states, it is all about "Lifting Them Up"! So what's the role of Volunteer Coach? Encourager, Friend, Inspiration...our job: teach 'em a little bit of football, give them a great time and lift them up... because sometimes when you lift a kid up just a little bit, they discover the freedom and courage to Fly Like on Wings of Eagles!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Sign-up to Join us on Sunday, August 20, 2017 as a Volunteer Coach for the 12th Annual Angel Tree/NFL Alumni NorCal Football Clinic
