We’ll be supporting Trojan Marching Band alumnus Efrain Nava's marching band by beautifying its classroom and facilities and a number of other projects.
Efrain has directed the Dana Middle School Marching Band since 1999 and built it into one of the top middle school programs in Southern California. They have won numerous awards, regularly perform at Disneyland and were the first middle school band to perform in the Hollywood Christmas Parade. In 2008, Efrain was named LAUSD's teacher of the year.
We are asking current and alumni band members to donate their time to a community band director who is one of our own. Besides general cleaning and painting, we will also organize the music library, clean out the instrument storage cabinets, repaint music stands, deep clean white boards and more.
Please register by March 4 to guarantee a free USC Alumni Day of SCervice t-shirt (you will be asked to provide your size when you register).
If you have any specific skills or project preferences, please email Brett Padelford at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can organize work assignments prior to March 11.
Wear clothes that you won’t mind getting dirty and bring work gloves if you have them. Volunteers must be 18 years old or older, unless a music student at Dana Middle School.
We’d appreciate if you could bring any of the following with you:
Check-in will begin at 9:45 a.m. at the band room and there will be a light breakfast available. We will be working from 10:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and we invite you to join us for lunch afterward. Parking information will be sent out with a confirmation email the week of the event.
Please email Brett Padelford at email@example.com if you have any additional questions.
