2017 Visitors’ Day Important Dates and Information:

First Session: Sat July 15th or Sun July 16th
Second Session: Sat August 12th or Sun August 13th

We ask that parents only choose one day to visit. There's limited space available and we want everyone who wants to visit to be able to visit!

*** NOTE: Saturday July 15th or August 12th are the ONLY visit options for parents of outgoing 7th graders (Voyageurs/Foresters) due to Little Big Trip Prep and Departures ***

Eventbrite Registration Link for Roche Harbor Barge and Anacortes Boat

We are using Eventbrite to register for spots on the Anacortes Boat and Roche Harbor Barges. No registrations will be taken over phone. Payment must be made at time of purchase. Please do not contact Paraclete Charters or Humpback Hauling for reservations.

Important Information:

  • It is a Nor’wester Tradition to bring a picnic lunch to share with your camper during your visit. All visitors must bring a sack or picnic lunch

  • Your Visitors’ Day Contact is Kathleen at the Camp Office

  • Pets are not permitted on Johns Island

  • Campers are expected to stay on the Camp Property during family visits

  • All Visitors age 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times while they are visiting camp. Former Campers under 18 must contact the Camp Office before purchasing tickets on the Eventbrite page

  • Visitors' Days are designed for parents to visit their campers, not for campers’ friends to come unsupervised. If you bring your camper’s friends, be prepared to supervise them the entire time on Johns

Eventbrite Transportation Options:

  • Roundtrip Charter Boat from Skyline Marina, Anacortes to Johns Island. 1 Trip on Sat and Sun Tickets are $85 per person +Eventbrite processing fees

    • Boarding starts at 9:30 and boat departs at 10:00am on both Saturday and Sunday

    • The boat will not wait for you if you are late!

    • The trip takes about 2 hours and should arrive at Johns Island at around noon

    • The boat will leave the same day from Johns Island at 5:00pm

    • Free Parking is available at the Decatur Northwest Parking Lot

    • Anacortes Skyline Marina- 2304 Skyline Way, Anacortes, WA 98221

  • Roundtrip Open Air Barge from Roche Harbor Marina (San Juan Island) to Johns Island 2 trips on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. Tickets are $30 per person +Eventbrite processing fees

    • Saturday 1st Barge boarding starts at 10:30am and departs Roche Harbor at 10:45am

    • 1st Saturday Barge arrives at Camp around 11:15am and departs from Camp at 4:30pm

    • 2nd Saturday Barge boarding starts at 11:45am and departs Roche Harbor at 12:00pm

    • 2nd Saturday Barge arrives at Camp at 12:30pm and departs from Camp at 5:45pm

    • Sunday Barge boarding starts at 11:15am and departs at 11:30am

    • Sunday Barge arrives at 12:00pm and departs from Camp at 5:00pm

    • Barges will not wait for you if you are late!

    • You cannot switch barges. You cannot arrive on the first barge and then depart on the last barge

    • Roche Harbor is on San Juan Island. You will have to take a ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor. PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to drive your car on the ferry, you will need to make a reservation. Saturday Ferries tend to book quickly.

Other Options:

  • By Private Boat: Parents are welcome to use their own boat to travel to Visitors' Day. Please call or email Kathleen (360-472-1382 or norwester@rockisland.com) no later than a week before your visit. For the safety of our campers and staff, we need to know that you are coming! Please do not surprise us and show up day of.

    • Camp needs to have a description of the boat, number of visitors in the party, and the name(s) of the campers that you will be visiting

    • All boats must anchor in front of Camp’s south shore and a member of our waterfront staff will come out to get you in a camp boat

    • You must have an anchor and be able to secure your own boat

    • Camp cannot accommodate mooring space on our dock or buoys

    • Families are NOT to operate camp boats (ie: canoes, kayaks, hunt canoes or sail boats)

    • Please do not arrive earlier than 11:30am, you will not be able to spend time with your camper until 11:30am

    • Private Boats need to depart Johns Island by 5:00pm

  • By Private Seaplane Charter: Contact Kenmore Air (866.359.2842) www.kenmoreair.com for information on direct charted flights from Seattle to Roche Harbor. You can also charter your arrival to and from Johns Island. Once you have made your reservations for flight to or from Johns, call or email Kathleen @ camp office (360-472-1382) no later than a week before your visit. For the safety of our campers and staff, we need to know that you are coming! No surprise seaplanes, please!

    • Please plan for your flight to arrive no earlier than 11:30am

    • Schedule departure for no later than 5:00pm

Please contact the camp office if you require more information or need directions to any of the above locations.
Due to our location and the logistics involved in visiting, the above dates are the only approved dates for visiting the island.
