Description

Secure your seats to Duke City Repertory Theatre's 7th Season!

In 2016/17, we are shaking things up with new venues and programming. In the spirit of constantly expanding our work and your experience, we have an exciting format for the coming season. Join us as we explore internally & originally adapted works to present a unique package for the viewer, a riot of a holiday cabaret and last but not least, doing Shakespeare as it was originally intended- to a lively and participative crowd in a public setting- with only ONE rehearsal.

The Ugly Sweater Revue

Are you tired of watching George Bailey get his sh#t together? Does the thought of seeing old Scrooge buy that Christmas goose again make you roll your eyes? Are you finding it hard to drum up enthusiasm about attending yet another Nutcracker? Us too! This holiday season, Duke City Rep is throwing caution and politeness to the wind to bring you the Ugly Sweater Revue. A little bit nice and a whole lot of naughty, this variety show filled with delightful, hilarious and bawdy acts by your favorite local performers is sure to be the lump of coal you've been waiting for.

The Jungle Book

Based on the story by Rudyard Kipling, adapted by Ezra Colón

The Indian Jungle comes alive in this physical and highly imaginative adaptation of The Jungle Book. Mowgli the man-cub must run into the deepest parts of the jungle to escape certain death. But when he becomes separated from his wolf pack, Mowgli must determine for himself: are the other wild animals friends or foe? Six actors share one tiny platform in this fast-paced retelling of Rudyard Kipling's adventure.

BardCrawl / Twelfth Night*

Serious actors. No director. One rehearsal. In a bar.

Inspired by Chicago's Back Room Shakespeare Project, Duke City Rep invites you to a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience: Shakespeare as it was done in Shakespeare's day. The BardCrawl actors will gather in a different Albuquerque watering hole each week for a brave and bold and unrehearsed performance of Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night'. Smartphones, appetites, and cat calls are all welcome.
