The 2016 Happy Family Youth Empowerment Conference (YEC) is organized by Happy Family Community Service, Inc, a recognized 501c3 organization, and will take place at Southern Connecticut State University on September 30 and October 1, 2016.
The 2016 YEC theme is “Empowering Youth to Climb Mountains.” However, the overall objective is to provide a yearly venue for youth, ages 12-18, to have discussions, work-groups and panels, as well as share insight on the various issues and concerns in their developing lives.
Considering the audience, we want to ensure our sessions are less of a classroom "teaching" and more interactive presentations of information.
Our day one subtopic is "I Am; I Be; How I Identify Me!" This subtopic will allow the youth to share pieces of themselves from the different lenses of perception: Yours (I Am what yuo see), Theirs Internal (I Be whats inside me) and Theirs External (How I want you to see me)!
Day two is where the adults take on the job of responding to the day one subtopic by leading sessions pertaining to youth topics and youth interaction!
