10:15am (30 min) Hidden inside our neighborhood: Brief overview of the forms of Elder Abuse and a focus on what is prevalent in our communities now
10:30-11:15 (30 min) The knock at the Door: A law enforcement officers contact with an alleged Elder Abuse victim, APS investigator contact with victim
1:15-11:45am (30 min) -Motivational-type presenter
11:45am-12:45pm Lunch (networking table)
12:45- 1:45pm (60 min) A look into the mind of the perpetrator: defense attorney/psychologist speaks on why offenders offend. Common “defenses” in cases, explore the mental health aspect of the offender and environmental influences
1:45-2:45pm (60 min) Behind the walls of Justice: Hear the strife and struggle of the court system as it relates to Elder Abuse: Discussion includes the elements needed to prosecute, cases that are current in the system, visions moving forward
3pm-3:30 (30 min) Lasting effects of breaking the silence: a discussion of the long term result of Elder Abuse victims, what happens after the ‘break the silence”?
