Ceremonies for Bastet and Het-Heru to honor and respect the Divine Feminine Trinity- Wabet Raven Seshat Satheru -
In honor of NTRT Sekhmet, all are asked to wear her colors of red & gold. Dress is Afrocentric and comfortable.
The Feast of Sekhmet is inspired by an ancient celebration that saw the people of (Ancient Egypt) KMT coming together to honor the divine feminine force known as Sekhmet. We first attended the Feast of Sekhmet in 2012 with our family of the Temple of Anu in Newark, NJ and knew that this was something that was needed in the Atlanta area to honor this great energy.
Sekhmet, the powerful one, is a fiery energy and we take this opportunity to invoke the inner fire as our fuel and motivation, at a time when the dreariness of the season might threaten to bring our mood and energy down.
In Kemetic mythology, Sekhmet was sent to the earth by her father Ra in order to punish the people for turning their backs on Divine law, Maat. Her bloodlust became so uncontrollable that she destroyed the wicked and the innocent alike, without exception. Djehuty, the Divine personification of wisdom, was called in to devise a plan to control and subdue Sekhmet. This teaches us that to use our sekhem (personal power) to accomplish specific goals, we must combine passion and drive with the wisdom to channel it into the right things, in right measure, at the right time(s).
One of the most significant portions of the evening involves a ceremony where we burn away the unhealthy traits and habits that have plagued us, asking Sekhmet to purge us of that which holds us back so that we have the power to proceed. It is an opportunity to recharge our minds, reassert our goals, and reclaim our vision for the future we wish to create for ourselves.
