WHAT: A fun day on a bicycle touring four of Palo Alto's pioneering Passive House buildings! These include a mixed-use development and three stunning homes, along a safe and easy 10 mile route through the neighborhoods of Palo Alto
Special features of the buildings on this tour include:
- Designs for multi-generational living
- A multi-use building with offices, dormitories, shared dining and living areas
- Private and publicly accessible EV charging stations (the first one in the nation!)
- Heat recovery ventilation systems
- Super-insulated windows and doors
- Greywater plumbing and a waterless toilet
- Super-efficient plumbing fixtures and landscaping
- All projects are Passive House + Renewables = Net Zero
WHO: Join supporters and members of Passive House California and a collection of high performance activists on a 10-mile route though Palo Alto's neighborhoods. The tour is open to cyclists of all skill levels.
WHY: Learn how and why local Palo Alto and other Californian organizations and citizens are choosing to build high performance buildings. Feel and see for yourself how healthy, comfortable and efficient these buildings are. Learn why they won't destroy our children's future!
WHERE: California Avenue, Caltrain Station, Palo Alto
(Guided tour gathers at 9.00am near the fountain next to the sculpture & leaves promptly at 9.15am.)

Free to PHCA Professional Members (Purchase of free ticket still required), $20 for the General Public
BYOB. (Bring your own bicycle.) We recommend a snack and water too. Lunch is not included but an informal lunch will be arranged nearby for anyone interested in staying on to continue socializing.
Tickets must be purchased on Eventbrite by both PHCA members and the General Public in order to participate in this tour. No on-site tickets shall be available but tickets may still be purchased on-line during the event.
A digital map of the projects will be provided to all participants at the start of the tour, along with the print copy of the PHCA Passive House Buildings book.
Tour projects are only open to PedalHaus Tour participants during pre-arranged times. No self-guided option is available for the tour this year, but please see the International Passive House Days website for other projects open this year.
PHCA will endeavor to select the safest bike route around these projects but accepts no liability for the safety of participants on this tour.
