Event Details

This regional Meeting is a chance to convene regional professionals around common issues faced in our communities and business districts working together to identify solutions.  Our goal is to engage and support business districts across New York State.  We are a peer based resource.  We track innovative programs and innovative communities.  Our goal is to be a go-to source for New York business district needs.

This regional meeting will focus our attentions and share best practices Gloversville, New York. We invite Downtown and Main Street professionals, their respective Board members, Businesses and the like to come learn in this "live" learning laboratory.   The plan program is fast paced and packed full of peer to peer exchanges, lively speakers, peer professional social opportunities and best practice examples and even what isn't working.


We have worked very hard to keep this affordable for all of our peers with our budgets in mind.The cost of this workshop is only $ 75 dollars and includes the workshops and meals.

Workshop ARaising The Quality of Life for living in your Downtown with Crime Prevention Topics include -Community Policing and Crime Prevention in your Downtown- Panel, Neighborhood Police Programs. The first line of economic development in your downtown is dealing with perception and the safety of your center city. Albany Officer Brian Hawley and Lt. Trembly of the Albany Police Department who are experts in Neighborhood engagement Police work. They are currenlty part of a team of community groups and the local business Improvement district implementing a (L.E.A.D.) Law Enforcement Diversion Program, only the third like it in the US. A simular program in Seattle reduced repeat offenders crime thier area by 58%.

Workshop BThe Making of a place is all about messaging. Panel- Marketing, Special events, outreach, what are the tools to building a vibrant life intown. A panel of experts in downtown programing and marketing with speak on the tools and techniques they use to effect positive messaging and creating a sense of place in their communities

ALL— 12:00 Noon Lunch Community Presentation Luncheon at Glove Theater _Presentation during Lunch from the Committee for Gloversville downtown on their new community plan. Practitioners are asked to discuss and interact with local members of the business community in helping shape the host communities plans for the future of the their downtown   Location:42 N Main St, Gloversville, NY 12078

1:45 — Afternoon sessions

Workshop C — Innovative Progamming for your community: Pop Up retail, Food Trucks, Place making, Alternative energy, Car Sharing, Bike Sharing, Incentives, Office to residential Conversions, What others are doing to fill the gap or at least encourage the gap be filled.  Christa Franzi and TomDworetsky from Camoin Associates will lead a fast paced discussion.

Workshop D — Chamber Rotunda-CampFire Session- Sit around the campfire (indoors) and discuss the challenges of bringing a “Creative” Class sector to life in your community, Discuss with your peers what they are doing in their communities to bring about change in food, the arts, creativity in development, technology and education into the heart of town.  


3:15— Walking Tour of Downtown followed by tour of Schine Memorial Hall -Meet at Chamber Building. weather focast is 60+ bring your walking shoes.


5:00 PM — Reception and Dinner  at the Eccentric Club: cocktails cash bar, followed by complimentary buffet dinner.

Urban Council Board Meeting 8:15 - 9:45 (Urban Council Board Members)

— Non Board Members meet for Breakfast at Mohawk Harvest Cooperative 9-10 am, 

Morning Program-Statewide & Rigion by Region Coffee Chat-Technical issues sessions. (Roundtable)

What are the addresses of the events and can i get handouts etc.

Quartly Meeting Attendies will recieve emails and follow up corrispondences of venue addresses and further session handouts etc are available after registration is complete.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

yes, but please conact us so we have the right name on he venue sign in sheets

 

Can I update my registration information?

No, Once you have signed in, that ticket will be in the name of the payee. However you can buy a ticket for someone else. Just let us know who is coming.

 

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, the lists event bright generates is our way of knowing you have a ticket

 

What is the refund policy?

You may receive a refund less the Event Bright fee up till 2 days beofre the event.

 

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Let us know if there are any name issues.


How should I dress?

Business Casual and if you plan on the walking tour, comfy shoes, the dinner is a casul buffet so business casual as well.


Why is there a "FEE"?

The fee is to cover the cost of processing payments via the EventBright web site. We do not get any of those funds, they go directly to EventBright. We have found even thought this fee is part of the transaction, it makes it easier for guests to pay using this system than sending checks etc.  If you need help please contact us with any questions
