The Best View on the Train!
Enjoy the exclusive use of the caboose by you and your private party guests, on the end of our acclaimed holiday train. Climb up into the cupola for a bird's-eye view of the train as it weaves along the scenic route of North America's First Transcontinental Railroad, through Niles Canyon, with a docent aboard to narrate the ride.
Departing from Niles (Fremont) at 4:30, you will get to see the canyon during sunset, as the lights become more promenent on the return trip to Niles. (There will not be a chance to get off the train in Sunol this year.) On the return trip, as the sun sets, the lights become the focus of attention.
The Santa Fe cupola caboose provides a special ride for groups of up to 24. Two small surfaces are available on-board for serving any refreshments you woud like to bring. There are windows on the main floor, but the best view of the train is from the seats high up in the cupola.
The cost is $600, for up to 24 riders. The caboose is very popular, so be sure to reserve early.
You may bring your own food and drinks aboard the caboose to enjoy.
We sometimes have last-minute tickets available! Come to the station 20-30 minutes before the train and ask the station agent to add you to the waiting list for that day. We'll also tweet about day-of-train ticket availability, if you want to follow @toots4ncry.
Please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, since we will have answers to questions that you may not have thought about yet. :-)
Your 2016 Train of Lights souvenir ticket is worth a 10% discount at the Gift Shop at our Sunol Depot on the evening of your train (offer expires December 30, 2016).
If you have further questions, please contact our Chief Station Agent at email@example.com, or by calling 510-996-8420.
