
2016 Emancipation Day - March with Mayor Bowser!

As you know, Emancipation Day commemorates that historic day when President Abraham Lincoln signed the Compensated Emancipation Act, freeing 3,185 enslaved persons in Washington, DC. The parade will showcase champions of civil and voting rights as well as school groups to reflect upon the path from slavery to emancipation with a vision toward full democracy for the residents of Washington, DC.
Walk with Mayor Bowser as we celebrate Emancipation Day 2016! Line up begins at 12pm, the parade will step off at 1pm.
