The purpose of the Ad Altare Dei (to the altar of God) award is help Scouts and Ventures (male and female) of the Roman Rite grow in their personal spiritual experience and relationship to God and the church. The activity book is arranged in chapters based on the seven sacraments which are a primary means towards spiritual growth.
Participants must be a registered scout for a minimum of 6 month and is designed for youth 13-14 years old. (6th grade completed), older youth may use the program.
The Hawkeye Council Committee for Catholic Scouting has scheduled a session of classes to help Catholic scouts and Ventures complete the requirements for the Ad Altare Dei award.
The Class schedule is below and will be held at All Saint Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids on Sundays from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM

A retreat will be held on December 4 to complete the final requirement and hold boards of review. There is no cost for this workshop but you will need to purchase a workbook for $5.00 at the scout shop. The Award cost $12.00 (units usually cover this cost as advancement).

If scouts have conflicts with one or two date’s, arrangements can be made for make-up work to complete the session.
Scouts who complete their books and attend this workshop will have completed the requirements for these Catholic religious awards.
Participants have the option of attending the Archbishops mass on Sunday January 29, 2017 at St Raphael’s Cathedral in Dubuque 2:00 PM. At this Mass the medals will be blessed and presented by Archbishop Jackels S.T.D.

We sponsor various workshops and events throughout the year. We have Cub Scout and Boy Scout workshops yearly in the fall as well as a Spring Catholic Camporee.
