Our 9 CE "Advanced Issues in Marijuana Taxation" includes an INCREDIBLE case study of a three-year IRS examination of a combined cannabis dispensary/grow operation.
Former IRS attorney and University of Denver law school professor Nick Richards takes participants page by page through the Revenue Agent's Report and related work papers. Practitioners will better understand what issues the IRS is zeroing on, including relevant adjustments and calculations. Nick personally represented the taxpayers at this examination - he can offer both the IRS position and his defense. A complete set of tax returns, client accounting, and IRS notices are provided for this engaging case study.
Washington State enrolled agent, IRC 280E subject matter expert, and taxaudit.com employee Debi Peters takes the baton from Nick to teach the practitioner the nuts and bolts of prepping a case for the examination, including how to document expenses in a cash based business.
John Sheeley, EA takes you through the IRS' recent interest in Form 8300 examinations and compliance as they apply to the legal marijuana industry. This part of the seminar includes the compliance aspects of the law - what your marijuana clients need to do each day to avoid the steep fines for violating these rules. Further, we give you the tools to go back to your clients and start collecting consulting fees immediately. Your client's don't know they are required to comply with form 8300. Make sure the client knows about these compliance issues and audits BEFORE they are selected for the exam.
All of our day long events include a printed text book with a spiral binding, continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. Instructors are on site all day and stay at day’s end to ensure all your questions are answered and you leave with the information you need.
