The Ad Altare Dei Emblem Retreat is a two weekend retreat.
January 27-29, 2017
March 3-5, 2017
Arrival time on Friday night is 6:30 pm
Departure time on Sunday morning is 11:30 am
Scouts must be able to commit to both weekends to attend.
The Ad Altare Dei emblem program, designed for 7th to 10th grade male or female youth, and is offered through the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS), a committee of the Boy Scouts of America with an affiliation with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. (USCCB) **Pope Pius XII Religious Emblem designed for 9th through 12th grade youth.
Eligibility for Ad Altare Dei Emblem
Should be enrolled in Faith Formation or Religious Education within their home parish and attend Mass regularly.
Has the opportunity to attend:
Day of Recollection at Saint John Vianney Seminary located on the campus of St Thomas University in Saint Paul.

The AAD emblem program covers the seven sacraments and a scout’s relationship with God and Scouting. Over the two weekends the scout will explore each sacrament.
Each scout is expected to purchase their own Ad Altare Dei workbook

In the front of the workbook there is a form in which a scout must fill out and obtain five signatures.
He must obtain four of the five signatures before coming to the retreat:
- Scout's Signature
- Parent's Signature
- Unit Leader's Signature
- Parish Priest's Signature
- Counselor's Signature - obtained at retreat
Each scout will have Home Study which will include several Service Projects. They can start working on Home Study and Service Projects as soon as they register. Each scout will receive a link in their confirmation email to obtain a Participant Guide. Once the guide is downloaded the scout can locate the Home Study Checklist and start working the program. All Home Study and Service Projects need to be completed before returning for 2nd weekend. A Scoutmaster or Advisor conference, with their unit leader, is also required before second weekend which includes telling scoutmaster/advisor what you have learned and obtaining his signature on chapters.
- Mass will be part of both weekends.
On Saturday afternoon and early evening of the 2nd weekend each scout will have the opportunity to attend the required Board of Review. **Make-up Boards are possible and are held in early April.
The cost is $90.00 per scout, plus $5.94 Eventbrite fee. The cost of emblem retreat covers two weekends which includes: meals, lodging, activities, retreat patch, emblem and parent pin.

Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting (ACCS)
The Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting (ACCS) is dedicated to promoting “Duty to God” in all scouting programs. The ACCS is a committee of the Archdiocese of St Paul and Minneapolis and is affiliated with the National Catholic Committee on Scouting ® (NCCS), an advisory to the Boy Scouts of America. The ACCS supports programs that promote on-going Catholic faith formation through Scouting. ACCS activities include the promotion of religious emblems, NCCS unit/volunteer recognitions, annual recognition ceremony, summer camp chaplains, and units chartered to Catholic organizations.
