2015 Uhuru Solidarity Movement Convention-Break the Silence!
Event Information
Description
The annual Uhuru Solidarity Movement Convention's theme this year is "Break the Silence! Refuse to be Complicit!
The Convention will run two days, Saturday from 12pm-8pm and Sunday from 10am-3pm.
The program will feature Keynote speaker, Omali Yeshitela, founder of the African Socialist International, Penny Hess, Chair of the African People's Solidarity Committee and exciting presentations on Racism, Non-Violence, White Privilege, and Reparations, as well as a workshop on building Days in Solidarity with African People events.
USM is the organization of white people committed to take responsibility for our own history as beneficiaries of oppression and to build a principled relationship to African people and oppressed peoples everywhere.
USM is not a white-led organization. We are white people who answered the call of the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) to organize in the white community for reparations to African people. We work under the leadership of the APSP, a worldwide organization fighting for the national liberation of African people, colonized in Africa, in the U.S. and wherever they are.
In this period of the crisis of imperialism when oppressed peoples are striking at the heart of this oppressive system, the African People’s Socialist Party is fighting for the right of African people to self-government and political, economic and social control over their own lives and resources.
We believe reparations are due to African people inside the U.S. and around the world. The governments of the U.S. and Europe, along with the lives of white people in general, are built on a platform of slavery, genocide and colonialism. We invite you to join us in breaking the deadly silence that has aligned us to our murderous ruling class for hundreds of years.
This is a call to white people to refuse to be complicit with the system that brutalizes and tortures the world’s peoples to fuel our white lifestyle. We must break our complicity and do our part to go back into the belly of the beast to build a movement in solidarity with the liberation of humanity.
REGISTRATION FEE IS 30 for two days and $15 for one day. Lunch is included on the second day although we will gladly to take donations to defray the cost of lunch!
