Application Instructions:

For Team Leads:

If you are the designated Team Lead, you will need to create a team profile. Once you have made your team profile, you will fill out your personal information. When you are finished you will be able to send an email to the rest of your team to invite them to join.

For Team Members:

If you are Team Member search the teams listed for your team, then fill out the personal information. If you do not see your team, email or your Team Lead.

Application Process:

Applications are due on Friday, April 3rd, 2015. All team members information should be completed at this time. Once the team lead has established the team and submitted their information we will send you a confirmation. Team Leads will be asked additional questions about the current STEM education program at your distict, school or consortium.

The following criteria will be used by a screening committee to select STEM education leadership teams:

  • Evidence of a leadership team with the skills, commitment, and credibility to lead a STEM education effort.
  • A team that includes:

    1. an administrative lead with financial decision-making authority
    2. experienced teacher leaders from the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subject areas (note: teachers do not have to have experience teaching STEM, they can be from one subject area, i.e. a Math teacher)
    3. a community representative who will work with the team during, as well as after, the institute to develop community support for STEM education. Teams at previous institutes have brought a local STEM field professional or a member of their school board or PTA.
  • In your application, the committee will look at the qualifications of individual team members, the team’s willingness to attend and fully participate in all sessions, and the team’s ability to develop and lay the groundwork for implementation of a STEM Education Action Plan.

Acceptance letters will be sent to the Team Lead on April 17th, 2015.


What is the cost of the Institute?

The cost is $6000 for a team of up to five members. Additional team members can be added for $1700 each. Teams from small districts (less than 2,000 students) are eligible for a slightly reduced cost if they are unable to bring five team members. Each team member will be provided all necessary materials; have a private hotel room for four nights; be provided all breakfasts, lunches, and one dinner during the week. Teams will be invoiced by Pacific Science Center after they have been accepted.
