Event Details

2014 Winter Walk
The 22nd annual Winter Walk  will be held on Sunday, Feburary 9th at Sarah's Circle.
Winter Walk is wonderful opportunity to better understand homelessness through the eyes of those who personally struggle with it. We encourage you to form a team with friends, family, and co-workers to bundle up and walk together through Uptown. Individual participants are also welcome. During the walk, real-life stories of women served by Sarah’s Circle will be shared. Participants are encouraged to imagine what it might be like to struggle with homelessness in Uptown, or to walk in her shoes.

The walk will end at Sarah's Circle, where participants will enjoy a free lunch of Chicago-style Vienna beef hot dogs. While we eat, we will listen to former clients speak about their experiences struggling with homelessness.
This event is Sarah’s Circle’s largest fundraiser. The funds raised will go directly to serving the women at Sarah’s Circle. Start organizing your team today!

Sarah's Circle

Sarah’s Circle is a non-profit agency with a mission of serving women who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Located in Chicago’s Uptown community, Sarah’s Circle has provided support for thousands of women over the course of its 30 year history.

Today, Sarah’s Circle offers comprehensive physical services, permanent supportive housing, a network of resources, and a community to over 900 women a year who are affected by homelessness.  We encourage women to empower themselves by rebuilding both emotionally and physically; realizing their unique potential as women.

Sarah’s Circle endeavors to provide indispensable services with excellence. We are constantly striving to improve and expand as an organization in our efforts to serve a growing number of women facing homelessness.

We invite you to be a part of our ultimate goal as both an organization and a society—the elimination of homelessness and the empowerment of women.

Effective November 1, 2011 Sarah's Circle stepped up to operate a 50 bed shelter for women located on the North Side of Chicago. It is one of the largest programs of this type in Chicago, and was in jeopardy of closing permanently.

With this new Program, Sarah's Circle delivers all physical services, such as shelter, food, clothing, laundry, and hygiene, as well as comprehensive support services to 50 women 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The goal of the program is to provide these services for the women while we work with them to find permanent housing, and then, once they are housed, provide services to ensure housing retention. While this is a big step for Sarah's Circle, it is at the core of our mission. With your support, the Program will allow us to help even more women achieve permanent housing, employment, better health, and connections with family and friends.
