Voices of the Sea:

The Poetry and Song of Maine's Fishermen and Those Who Work on the Water

Salt water, it is well known, has always stimulated the imagination and stirred the soul. The performers at Voices of the Sea, men and women who have gone down to the sea to make a living, will further demonstrate that passion through their unique and original poetry and song, capturing the spirit of Maine’s fishermen and those who work on the water. Imagery of a life working the sea will accompany the performances adding a stunning visual element to the evening’s activities.

March 14th At Maine Maritime Museum located in Bath                                     Emceeing the evening’s activities will be legendary Maine humorist and president of the Maine Storytellers Association John McDonald who is sure to regale the audience with a few of his own tales of the sea. A sampling of participating poets includes: Musician Bob Bowman, along with being a life-long musician Bob has been a ferry captain, boatbuilder, marine scientist, and operator of one of the first Atlantic whale watching companies; Stefanie Alley who lobster fishes from little Cranberry Island in Islesford Maine has an ability to capture the beauty and movement of the natural world around her and put it into written word in astounding ways.

This event takes place in Long Reach Hall at Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. Doors open at 6:30PM event begins at 7PM.
