Event Details

The Throwback Run 5K!  This is a first for us at Joggermom Marathon to host a 5K run and our version is that there is going to be two 5K dates a month that you can run on. This way, if one of the Saturday's don't work for you, you always have another chance. If you are new to running, try splitting the 5K over both Saturday's.  Anybody that can do 10k over the two Saturdays will get sent a personalized 10k bib with their name and unique racing number. 20% of the proceeds will be donated to the St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Run: 5K (3.1 miles)
Date: Choose April 12, 2014 and/or April 26, 2014
Note: If you have signed up for our full marathon, the miles done during this event is applied toward the miles on our full marathon as well.
Why: Because you love the 80's like us and running is so 80's, so 90's, so millenniums, and so timeless.

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of their founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and around the world.

  • The daily operating cost for St. Jude is $1.9 million, which is primarily covered by individual contributions.
  • St. Jude is where doctors send their toughest cases because St. Jude has the world’s best survival rates for the most aggressive childhood cancers.
  • A top national referral center for children with tough-to-treat forms of cancer or who have not responded successfully to standard treatments.

  • St. Jude has helped increase the survival rates for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) from 4% before opening in 1962 to 94% today.
  • St. Jude develops new treatments that reduce side effects while maintaining or improving outcomes, so that survivors of childhood cancer can have the best possible long-term health.
  • Because patients with brain tumors improve dramatically through proton therapy, they are building the world’s first proton therapy center dedicated solely to treating children.
  • St. Jude researchers and doctors have research and treatment programs for children with pediatric HIV and AIDS, as well as using new drugs and therapies to fight related infections.
