Registration and Start Time

Registration for VG Championships Round 1 opens Sunday at 8:30 am and closes at 9:45 amThe Video Game (VG) Championship player's meeting begins at 10:00 am sharp Sunday morning!!!

Are there any requirements for attendance at the VG Championship?

The Winter Regional Championships do not require an invitation or qualification. All players in good standing are welcome to participate. Players must bring their own system in the Nintendo 3DS family, copy of Pokémon X or Pokémon Y, and charger.

How to Sign-Up and Play

Arrive onsite no later than ½ hour before the tournament start time. Thank you.

Note: if you preregister, you only have to check in at the computer the morning of the event prior to end of registration; a registration slip is NOT required!

Also, please remember to bring your Player ID / POP ID (This is not your in-game Trainer ID, Trainer Name, Username, Friend Code etc)  If you need a Player ID, you can get one online. Click here for info! 

VG Prizes

The top finishers in each of the three VG age categories receive the following prizes:

1st Place

• Pokémon VG Regional Championships 1st Place award
• Nintendo 3DS system
• Combination of 72 booster packs from current Pokémon TCG expansions
• 120 Championship Points

2nd Place

• Pokémon VG Regional Championships 2nd Place award
• Copy of Pokémon X or Pokémon Y
• Combination of 72 booster packs from current Pokémon TCG expansions
• 110 Championship Points
• Hat

3rd & 4th Place

• Pokémon VG Regional Championships 3rd or 4th Place award
• Combination of 36 booster packs from current Pokémon TCG expansions
• 90 Championship Points
• Hat

5th - 8th Place

• Combination of 18 booster packs from current Pokémon TCG expansions
• 70 Championship Points
• Hat

9th - 16th Place

• Combination of 9 booster packs from current Pokémon TCG expansions
• 50 Championship Points

17th - 32nd Place

• 30 Championship Points (if division attendance is 64 or greater)

33rd - 64th Place

• 10 Championship Points (if division attendance is 128 or greater)

65th - 128th Place

• 5 Championship Points (if division attendance is 256 or greater)

* Byes do not ‘stack.’ If you have won a bye in another event such as the S/P/T Championship and finish in the top 2 of a Regional Championship, you will receive a first- and second-round bye at your National Championships.

Additionally, all participants will receive 3 Play! Points, and a Pokémon Regional Championships promo cardwhile supplies last, just for playing! Also, we will have some fun door prizes of other cool Pokémon merchandise.

Food

There will be no food onsite. Additionally, no food can be brought into the convention center. Within minutes, like across the street, are these restaurants: Sharkies, Z Pizza, CPK (Calif. Pizza Kitchen), Cold Stone, etc. Down Long Beach Blvd. about 4-7 blocks are some fast food places: Subway, Panda Express, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Carl's Jr., and El Pollo Loco. Players will get a Lunch break around Noon each day. Please eat breakfast before you come to Regionals. Thanks.

Special Events

We have the following super cool & neat special event for participating Regional Championship players:

  • Create-a-Card contest (with colored pencils and crayons)

Side Events

The Long Beach City Championship will be held Sunday, registration ends at 9:45 am Sunday morning; players meeting starts at 10:00 am.

4-player "Draft-in-a-Box" TCG booster drafts will be offered throughout the day and will consist of single-elimination rounds—$25 entry fee; prizes = 4 boosters for 1st, 2 boosters for 2nd, and 1 booster for 3rd-4th.
4-player TCG constructed tournaments will be available and will consist of single-elimination rounds—$5 entry fee; prizes = 4 boosters for 1st, 2 boosters for 2nd, and 1 booster for 3rd-4th.

4-player VG side events will be offered as interest warrants. Pricing and prizes presented onsite.

Tournament Structure

VG: Age-Modified Swiss (1 game matches) in each age divison, with Top 2-8 single elimination (best 2 of 3 games) in each age divison.
