The 5th annual RUN FOR ADELA will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. on Sullivans Island, Station 16. This family friendly 5K (3.1 miles) is the only race in Charleston that allows participants to enjoy the beaches of Sullivan's Island while running or walking. The race starts and finishes at Station 16.We had 800+ registrants in last year’s race and hope to exceed that number this year. Come be a part of the fun!
Awards M/F: Top 3, first master, first grandmaster, up to 3 deep in each age group. Age Groups: 5K: 9 & Under, 10‐13, 14‐17, 18‐24, 25‐29, 30‐34, 35‐39, 40‐44, 45‐59, 50‐54, 55-59, 60‐69, 70+.
School Spirit Contest The school with the most registrants will receive a scholarship awarded after the race at the Awards Ceremony. If you are a student, please be sure to mark your registration form appropriately. One $1,000 cash award for elementary/middle school; One $1,500 cash award for high school/college. One Mile Fun Run: The one-mile fun run is also held on the beach. It is open for ages 12 and under only. If you wish to compete in the fun run, please purchase the One Mile Fun Run ticket above to ensure correct timing. Those who register for the 5K are NOT eligible for the fun run as the events are held simultaneously.
Race Services: Fluids at S/F and at ½ way. Splits at key mile marks. Post-race food and refreshments provided for participants and awards ceremony to follow.
