8:30 - 5:00 September 14th (Saturday): Leadership and Coaching Seminars
Saturday seminars cover the core principles of working with high school student athletes in the context of a NorCal mountain bike team. Saturday’s seminars cover basic knowledge all NorCal Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Ride Leaders should be aware of and integrate into their team programs.
NICA's MTB 101 class is taught by coaches who have been certified in the Lee Likes Bikes Training Method. This mountain bike skills curriculum was created by world renowned skills author and instructor Lee McCormack. As NICA's skills development director, Lee licenses his teaching method to NICA to help student athletes across the United States ride more safely and have more fun. To learn more, see www.leelikesbikes.com
You will also learn about experiential teaching techniques, how to accommodate different learning styles, and how to create a positive learning environment for young riders. The majority of this clinic will be held outdoors, so please bring your bike and appropriate riding and safety gear for the weather.
