The 2014 Spring Investor Education Workshop presented by the KC Chapter of BetterInvesting will be held at the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park on April 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Bob Adams is retired from 26 years in radio and television broadcasting, and 13 years as a college professor. He serves as volunteer for InvestEd Inc., a non-profit investor education organization; served on the BI Computer Group Advisory Board from 1999 to 2006; has been a Director of the Board of Puget Sound Chapter of BI since 1994. Adams has been a strong advocate of long-term investing and provides free investment tools on his website: www.bob-adams.net
Presentation topics will be:
How "I" Analyze a Company: a step-by-step analysis in how to use Internet resources for confirmation of your judgment when studying a company.
Handy URLs for Stock Analysis: a demonstration of implanting useful website addresses (URLs) into your software to examine expected growth for the company; find information concerning estimates of quarterly and yearly Sales and Earnings, competitors, industry averages, institutional and insider ownership, and other news related to the company. Your Portfolio-How Ya Doin’?: how to determine how well your portfolio is doing; learn the annualized return since inception using two methods of easily achieving this information utilizing a free spreadsheet.Annuities-Good, Not So Good, or Bad?: learn about this controversial tool that can be useful for some investors, how to determine when an annuity might be useful, and if so, the dangers and traps to be avoided. Analyzing an Annual Report the Easy Way: find out what to read, what’s important, and what’s not; use a free spreadsheet to analyze financial numbers that will guide you to useful conclusions.
Lunch and refreshments are included in the registration fee. During the lunch break, workshop participants will have an opportunity to present stocks of interest for a rapid fire look at an SSG and receive commentary from the workshop leaders.

The KC Chapter covers the western half of Missouri and all of Kansas.
The KC Chapter is made up of local volunteers. Our primary goal is investor education for our clubs and members in Western Missouri and Kansas. We assist in the formation of new clubs, visit established clubs for training and trouble-shooting, and conduct training sessions for members and the public. Classed tre held in the local communities.
