(2014) CRUISE: Extraordinary Wildlife of Merrymeeting Bay Cruise (Mondays)
The Extraordinary Wildlife of Merrymeeting Bay Cruise
Six rivers converge at Merrymeeting Bay to create a truly unique and rare ecosystem: the breeding ground of osprey and bald eagles and home to Atlantic sturgeon and harbor seals. Narration is provided by members of local environmental organizations who share their knowledge of the wildlife, ecological vitality and the challenges now facing this unique place. Be sure to bring a camera! This program is made possible thanks to the sponsorship of the Merrymeeting Bay Trust and the collaborative efforts of the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust, Maine Audubon Society, Cathance River Education Alliance and Friends of Merrymeeting Bay.
This cruise is approximately 3 hours long.
The Seguin's professionally trained crew provides fascinating narration and a safe, comfortable cruise. Guests are welcome to bring aboard a picnic including beer and wine for personal consumption. Coolers are not allowed on the boat.
Tickets are non-refundable, except in the event of a weather cancellation. The Seguin is a 40-passenger boat with some covered seating and usually runs in light rain and other moderate weather conditions. Cruises may be cancelled in the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions or unmet minimum ticket sales, and cancellations are made by the Captain on the day of the cruise. If the Museum cancels a cruise, you will have the opportunity to reschedule, or receive a refund.
The temperature on the water can vary throughout the day. Please come prepared with extra layers. Access to the boat requires negotiating a ramp down to the float, and then boarding steps into the boat. We are not able to accommodate wheelchairs.
The experience of Maine from the water is like no other and the Kennebec River delights one and all! Your ticket price includes Museum admission for two days-come early or return the next day to visit our Museum shipyard and galleries.
