Minds Behind the Music Seminar Series is back this year with an exciting new line-up of industry insiders in entertainment and media.
If you're interested in pursuing or furthering your career in entertainment and/or media then join us at the Baruch College Performing Arts Center this August for three days of one-on-one seminars with the "minds: behind the business.
Each seminar goes in-depth with managers and senior level executives, who candidly discuss their professional journeys, give career advice and answer your questions on how to break into their field and respective industry.
Our purpose is to educate individuals about the various professional career paths in entertainment and media through connecting them with executives in their field of interest who can help them get their foot in the door.

Margeaux Rawson, SVP Operations, Vested in Culture
Margeaux Rawson is the Senior Vice President of Operations for Vested in Culture, renowned music industry executive Sylvia Rhone’s new label with Epic Records/Sony Music Entertainment. She is responsible for managing all aspects of the label’s day-to-day operations and serves as a vital liaison between VIC and Epic while managing its diverse roster of young, fresh and new artists Kat Dahlia, Quadron, Casey Veggies and Cashius Green.
A graduate of Columbia University, Mrs. Rawson was previously Senior Vice President of Media Relations for Universal Motown Records, where she was responsible for developing and implementing media strategies for a roster of breakthrough, best-selling artists, including Kid Cudi, Akon, Kelly Rowland, Erykah Badu, Nelly, Melanie Fiona and many others.
Rob Markman, Senior Writer, MTV News
Markman, who previously served as Deputy Editor of XXL magazine, is a writer, reporter, lover of hip-hop and champion of culture. Hear his journey from the mail room to becoming one of the most respected voices on urban culture on August 3rd at the Baruch Performing Arts Center.
Kevin Storey, Brand Manager, Epic Records
From college party promoter at Temple to Brand Manager at Epic Records in only three years, Kevin epitomizes what this new generation of Executives stands for. At twenty-five he has revolutionized the concept of cool, understanding that dedication and patience are keys to success. Storey continues to look at obstacles as opportunities and understands that his dream will only work as hard as he does.

Sean Saadeh, Vice President of Programming, Barclays Center
Saadeh joined the Barclays Center in 2011 after five years as Executive Director of Booking for the Phoenix Coyotes and AEG Facilities. He now works with the Barclays Center executive team as the Vice President of Programming, in managing and directing all event bookings for the Barclays Center and utilizes his relationships with top promoters to help bring best-in-class and diversified programming to the venue. He is responsible for bringing over 150 events to Barclays since its opening in September 2012.
Jill Strada, Assistant Program Director & Digital Media Brand Manager, Hot 96.9 Boston
With over 17 years in the business, Jill Strada began her career in 1996 as a promotion intern at WJHM/102 JAMZ in Orlando, Florida. She's since gone on to hold such titles as Program Director of WPYO/95.3, Assistant Program Director & Music Director for WQHT/HOT 97, Program Director of Emmis heritage Urban AC radio station, WRKS/98.7 KISS-FM, and Program Director of WPOW/POWER 96. In 2012 Jill Strada launched her own consulting business, Stradagy Worldwide LLC, and in 2013 Jill left the sunshine state to join Greater Media Inc. for the launch of WBQT-FM / HOT 96.9 in Boston as the Assistant Program Director & Digital Media Brand Manager.
Andrew Veras, Producer, Emmis Communications/Hot 97
Veras is the producer for Hot 97’s Morning Show, Kay Foxx’s Hitlist, Street Soldiers with Lisa Evers, Real Late with Peter Rosenberg and Miss Info’s News Updates. As a producer he’s responsible for coming up with show topics, booking guests, editing talk breaks and interviews and, more. Veras got his start as an intern for 98.7 Kiss FM was then hired to work in the mailroom as a part timer and worked his way up to eventually becoming a producer.

Jon Cropper, Founder, Futurlogic/Marketing Expert
Jonathan Cropper is a highly respected media and marketing strategist and entrepreneur.
Jon began his career at MTV: Music Television where he authored the business plans for MTV’s expansion into Asia and Latin America and South Africa. He also served as Director of Project Development of Quincy Jones Entertainment/Time Warner where he reported directly to Mr. Jones on all traditional and new media business development.
Jon also has deep internet experience. As the VP of Marketing and the #4 hire at iCast, (a CMGi funding company that was the precursor to YouTube), Jon got significant exposure to new ideas that would help shape the future of Internet culture.
Later, as Senior Manager, Youth and Urban Communications at Nissan North America, (an internal group that he founded), Jon was responsible for all youth, multicultural marketing and strategic alliances for the Nissan and Infiniti brands. He managed a $100 million annual budget and oversaw the production of dozens of multimedia campaigns. He was acknowledged by industry trade publication, Brandweek, as the best marketer under 40 in America.
Jon was also the Chief Marketing Officer for Sean “Diddy” Combs’ collection of companies, and as an Executive Creative Director/Senior Vice President at Young & Rubicam Brands, led an advanced, communications think tank around mobile and social media.
Rodney Williams, CEO/Co-founder, LISNR
Rodney Williams, recently selected in 2013 for AdAge’s top 40 marketers under 40, is aiming to change the way consumers interact with audio as a engagement platform and a intriguing advertising model for brands. Prior to Lisnr, he spent 4+ years at Procter & Gamble leading a number of Brand Management, digital, and point of entry media efforts, often being noted as one the most innovative young talents within the company.
Katarzyna Sawicz, Marketing Manager, VEVO
Only 29, Katarzyna “Kasia” Sawicz joined VEVO in 2009. She was and is major player in the launch of VEVO's Rap Channel working heavily with managing the urban genre (Rap & R&B) and also managing VEVO's special events. Before VEVO she worked for Universal Music Group and Condé Nast.
