  • 9-9:15 a.m. — Introductions/welcome

ALL DAY: Tackling that honey-do list

  • Representatives from Home Depot will teach basic home improvement how-tos throughout the day to help you tackle that list of projects at home.


  • • 9:30-10:15 a.m.
    • • Stepping up
      • Women who have careers in nontraditional roles will discuss the day-to-day challenges they’ve faced and how they have been able to overcome and succeed. The panel will include Brig. Gen. Kathy Wright, the first female general in the Wyoming Army National Guard; Anne Gunn of the Sheridan Programmers Guild; Sara Spann, the newest addition and first female instructor in Sheridan College’s machine tool technology program; and state Rep. Rosie Berger, R-Big Horn.
    • • Understanding the challenges of raising kids in today’s world
      • Woodland Park Elementary School Principal Paige Sanders will discuss what challenges parents face raising kids in today’s world with advancements in technology, time commitments, etc.
    • • Home preservation tips
      • Join UW Extension Nutrition and Food Safety Educator Kentz Willis in this class to learn the best, safest way to hold onto those goodies from your garden all winter long.
  • • 10:30-11:15 a.m.
    • • Body knowledge
      • Deeann Noecker of Banner Counseling and Caryn Moxey of PURENERGY Fitness will join other health professionals to talk about all aspects of women’s health — mental, physical, etc. Stay tuned for a list of additional speakers on the panel.
    • • Car talk
      • Roll up your sleeves and learn a few car care basics with Chris Hayden, service manager at Hammer Chevrolet.
    • • Supplement savvy
      • Vitamins, supplements and pills, OH MY! Join UW Extension Nutrition and Food Safety Educator Kentz Willis in this class to learn what supplements are worth it and which ones are just hype.
  • • 11:30 a.m. -12:15 p.m.
    • • Money management
      • Join US Bank staff to talk about long-term planning and saving for yourself first.
    • • Give back
      • A panel of local nonprofit and service-oriented individuals will talk to you about opportunities to volunteer, lead and give back to your community and communities around the world. Panel members include Center for a Vital Community Executive Director Amy Albrecht, Sheridan County YMCA Director Jay McGinnis, Sheridan Health Center Director Cathi Kindt and returned Peace Corps volunteer Eric Comstock.
    • • A diva’s defense
      • Empower Wyoming, a company based in Buffalo, Wyo., will teach attendees tricks to protecting themselves. The group seeks to end violence through personal safety training, teaching individuals to be more self-reliant, increasing their self esteem and imparting practical self-defense skills.
  • • 12:30 a.m. -1:45 p.m. — Lunch with speaker Sarah Calhoun of Red Ants Pants
  • 2-2:45 p.m.
    • • Bridging the tech gap
      • You tweeted what? What is a #hashtag? Private business owner Suzanne Leonard will walk you through some tech basics in this session.
    • • Why garden? Justification (as if we need it) for doing what we love
      • Most of us have those moments during the long hours of planting, watering, weeding, harvesting and canning, when that nagging question, “Why am I doing this!?” assaults us. Come explore the humorous, philosophical — and practical — aspects of gardening with Landon’s Greenhouse owner/manager Janelle Gray. Silence your own inner demons regarding gardening, and see some demos that will help you with common tasks.
    • • Learning to stretch yourself
      • Join local professional Teddy Araas for an introductory yoga class.
    • • Zumba
      • Try this popular dance workout with local businesswoman Lorrie Anderson, owner of Z Fit.
  • • 3-3:45 p.m.
    • • Healthy partnerships — Taking a Spin Around the Power & Control Wheel
      • Healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, learn skills that will help prevent you from living in an unhealthy, possibly violent relationship. We all dream of a relationship that is secure and happy. Let’s raise your odds of living that dream.
    • • We’ve got your back
      • Caring for a parent, family member or friend? Hiring somebody to help out? Stella Montano, director of family caregiver services, knows what you need to look out for. She’ll give you the ins and outs of caregiving pitfalls.
    • • Own it
      • Local real estate guru Dixie See will walk you through the trials of the real estate market, provide tips and talk about pitfalls to look out for.
  • • 4-4:45 p.m.
    • • Negotiating to the top
      • Join Val Burgess for a session on wage negotiation. She’ll remind you that you’re worth it and provide tools to keep your cool in the negotiation room.
    • • Perfect photos with your smartphone
      • What is the name of that app you can post pictures to again? Join Sheridan Press photographer Justin Sheely for a how-to class on taking amazing pictures with your smartphone. Learn how to edit, share and brag about all those candid moments you capture.
    • • Work it
      • Local women business owners will talk about how they began their careers, challenges they faced and resources that were available to them during this panel discussion.
  • 5-6 p.m. — Reception, networking cocktail hour
  • 6 p.m. — Woman of the Year banquet with keynote speaker Brig. Gen. Kathy Wright
